A short-term medical team from Singapore brings eye glasses and the Gospel to people on the Thai/Burma border.

A short-term medical team from Singapore to the Thai/Burma border carried about 500 pairs of old glasses with them. Reports the Mercy Teams International (MTI) doctor, "It was like a carnival with so many people waiting to see the doctor or to be fitted with free glasses. I am not too sure if all of them really needed them; my guess is that many just joined the crowd because they wanted to get something! However, there were many who genuinely needed the glasses and it was so exciting to watch the expressions of joy and smiles on their faces each time we 'stumbled' on the right pair for them. Last Sunday, I saw a man using his reading glasses to read the Bible in church. Not only were his physical eyes opened, his spiritual eyes were opened too. Every patient is given a tract in Burmese. Pray that the patients will read and be touched by the hope God offers."MTI is building a new block to house a children's home and also medical and dental clinics in this place. They are also in the process of laying pipes to supply the villagers with tap water, hopefully in July. This will be a memorable milestone in their history. Pray that they will also drink the living water freely available from the Lord.
