Antigua & Barbuda: Being a buddy

21203“It’s been exciting to see volunteers come with wide eyes not knowing what to expect but knowing they’re doing what God wants them to do,” said Volunteer Coordinator Jessica Edwards (USA). Since Logos Hope has been in service, 700 local port volunteers have taken part in what is actually a discipleship programme.

In addition to working alongside crew, 22 volunteers from Antigua will receive training on the topics of growing, showing, and going. To make the whole experience more personal, Jessica helped develop the Buddy program which “provides crewmembers the chance to take on the personal responsibility of investing in the volunteers”. In almost every port James Bascombe (Barbados) signs up to be a Buddy because he remembers the excitement and fulfilment of being a part of the Logos II community when he himself was a port volunteer.__
